Here at Recycling Monkey our job is to take the legwork out of scrapping your car. It has never been more hassle-free to get fast payment for your old car. We’ve busted 6 common misconceptions you might have about scrapping your car, to show you it’s even easier than you think.

6 Things You DON’T Need To Do Before You Scrap Your Car

Worry about paperwork

If your car doesn’t have a valid MOT certificate that is not a problem, as we don’t need this in order to collect it. You also don’t need to worry about filling out endless forms and having to pay unexpected ‘admin’ fees- with Recycling Monkey what you see is what you get, we make it as easy as possible to scrap your car.

Clean the car

We can collect your car whatever condition it is in, there is no need for you to clean it or prepare it in any way. All you need to do is take out any personal items or household waste- remember to check the doors and glovebox for any stray belongings!

Take it to a garage

Gone are the days when you had to take your car to the nearest scrap dealer and hope they offered you a reasonable price. We can collect your car for you at no extra charge to help save you time. If you need your car to be collected urgently, because you have broken down at the side of a road and don’t want to pay for a callout, or because your car has been towed back to a garage then our Speedy Same Day Collection service is for you.

Shop around for the best price

As experts in the disposal of scrap cars with an extensive network of specialist companies, we can get the best scrap car prices for you. We aim to maximise the value that we can quote for your car thanks to our focus on Greener Recycling. This enables us to reduce waste and increases our efficiency, so that we can offer higher values for cars, car parts and materials.

Contact the DVLA

When your vehicle is collected you will receive a receipt and section 9 of the V5C form ready for you to simply send off to the DVLA. Within two weeks you should receive confirmation from the DVLA that you are no longer the registered keeper of the car- it’s that simple. We take care of all the other paperwork and once the vehicle has been de-polluted at an authorized treatment facility, a Certificate of Destruction will be issued and the DVLA will be notified.

Wait for the cheque to clear

Before we come to collect your car you can decide whether you would like us to pay you via cheque or electronic payment. It is no longer legal to offer cash for scrap cars, but thanks to our quick payment transfers you can get instant money in the bank for your old vehicle.
